The government have stressed the need for the wide use of penalties and prosecutions for people who cheat the benefits system. While a secure and well run benefits administration can act as a deterrent to benefit fraud, those people who do commit fraud, must know that they will be discovered and will have to suffer the consequences of their actions. To support this, R & B Solutions will:
- Provide defined policy criteria on the use of sanctions, giving consideration to the suitability of the person who is subject to the action
- Ensure consideration is given in the application of sanctions in all cases guaranteeing compliance with policy
- Report results to sustain accountability for performance and ensure compliance with the agreed process
- Analysis details of sanctions to inform future counter-fraud business plans
- Ensure checks of the DWP’s database and Police National Computer (PNC) are always made to identify previous benefit fraud sanctions and convictions before deciding on appropriate sanction
- Ensures that the appropriate notification is sent for recording on the DWP database when a sanction is administered
